You did it!
Earlier this year, we told you how Superstorm Sandy had destroyed the lights on our beautiful Glen Ridge Holiday Tree, and that it would cost $15,000 to put new lights on the tree - money the municipal government just didn't have.
With the blessing of Mayor Hughes and the GR Borough Council, we asked the citizens of Glen Ridge to step-up to the challenge and raise the money. Right from the start, our two wonderful Community Service Clubs - The Glen Ridge Kiwanis Club and The Rotary Club of Glen Ridge - came through, big time! Working together, they agreed to provide a 100% match to every dollar we raised for the Holiday Tree by October 1st - all the way up to $7,500.
Today, at the regular Rotary Club of Glen Ridge meeting, the last of the checks - totaling $15,000.00, were presented to GR Borough Administrator Michael Rohal. If everything goes as planned, the new lights will be installed in time for the annual GR Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at Borough Hall at 4:30pm on Saturday, December 5th.
Hope to see you there!
