On Thursday, May 14, 2020, The Borough of Glen Ridge will be holding a Memorial Service for Officer Charles "Rob" Roberts. At 11:45am, a private escort will be leaving the funeral home in Bloomfield, traveling west on Bay Avenue to Ridgewood Avenue and stopping at the Glen Ridge Municipal Complex. At Noon, a service will take place for the family in front of the Municipal Building facing Bloomfield Avenue.
The Municipal Complex and surrounding lawn will be closed to the public. The service will be live streamed on the Borough Facebook Page.
Upon conclusion of the service, approximately 12:50pm, a funeral escort procession will travel throughout Glen Ridge on its way to bring Officer Roberts to his final rest. The procession, consisting of family and members of the public safety community, will follow this revised route:
At 12:50pm, residents are asked to stand outside their home with their hand over their heart as the procession passes. Rob's widow, Alice Baker Roberts, has asked for the Glen Ridge community to show their support by wearing Mets colored attire.
